The show is a jam-packed 90-minute experience celebrating the iconic sounds of 60s Motown and 70s Disco. What makes this performance unique is that it pairs the legendary, driving rhythms of full-size live instrumentation with the fascinating and fun backstories behind how these historic hits were made.

For example, did you know . . . .

This classic Motown hit was inspired when co-writer William "Mickey" Stevenson saw children in Detroit jumping in and out of open fire hydrants to cool off in the summer. It looked like they were dancing, and Mickey took it from there. Motown star Marvin Gaye helped co-write the track and played drums on the recording session. Martha Reeves did not like the song at first, but it grew on her.  DANCING IN THE STREET was released in 1964, and of course the song became Martha’s signature hit.

Audiences are treated to the ultimate double-feature of music and history, experiencing both the timeless tracks and the real-world stories of how these songs transformed American music.
